World Cup Knitting

So a knitter in Scotland got a really great idea. To hold a competition, much like one held for the Olympics, where at the opening of the World Cup you cast on a project and you get a month to finish it entirely. The point is to challenge yourself by picking something slightly above your skill level. Plus you get the added consolation that you are not the only one sitting in pubs watching soccer and knitting. Then she added a proviso which was that if you had something languishing on your needles that you just motivation to finish, well, there's a time penetly but hey have at it. I was going to do a fair isle market bag. But yarn costs, and the fact my training run was not what I expected put me off the project for a little while. Then I remembered my first sweater. I am so excited to make this! But it has sat in my bag for over three months with only the first five inches done. I finally made it to the stripe. The pattern is from Last Minute Knitted Gifts and it's done in Gryffindor colours because it's meant to be a Quidditch Sweater. So, what better way to watch the World Cup than to sit, cheer for England (even if they don't have Rooney they can make it!) and knit a sweater from an imaginary sport. Here's to Victory in the Knitting World Cup.
P.s if any of you want to find me for any of the games I'll be at Small Bar in my neighborhood. Yes, my neighborhood has it all... good sushi, good cafes, a knitting store that I work at and now a pub to watch soccer in! I couldn't be happier

Can't wait to see the finished project! I'll happily join you on Sunday for the 11 a.m. England/Australia game. Should be an excellent time.
